Instant Pot Cajun Rice Dressing

I was not sure if I should call this Instant Pot Cajun Rice Dressing or Instant Pot Dirty Rice.  We live in south Louisiana and have always cooked it on the stove.  We also call it Rice Dressing.  I guess depending on where you live you might call this dirty rice.  Some people add onion, bell peppers, and celery.  We don’t though.  I like to keep my recipes as simple as possible without a long list of ingredients.

Some of the comparable recipes for Instant Pot Cajun Rice Dressing and Dirty Rice call for ground beef or ground pork.  We have always used Savoie’s Real Cajun Dressing Mix that comes in the freezer section instead though.  It is really good, and it makes the recipe very simple also.

This Instant Pot Cajun Rice Dressing recipe goes perfectly with our Dump and Go Instant Pot Turkey Roast for Thanksgiving or Christmas!  Or if you’re in the mood for an indoor Instant Pot BBQ you could pair it with this Instant Pot BBQ Pork Steak recipe.

Also, in case you are wondering we use the 8 qt. Instant Pot to prepare all our meals.

We also use a digital cooking thermometer like this.  If you have any questions about what temperature something should be cooked at or reheated at you can check out FoodSafety.gov.  That’s what we use.

Instructions – Instant Pot Cajun Rice Dressing

#1.  First, put Instant Pot on saute mode (high) and add your thawed Savoie’s Cajun Dressing mix and 1 cup of chicken broth.  Stir to mix them together.   I put the pot on saute while I mix everything together so it starts heating up.  You are not actually browning anything in the recipe.

#4.   Close the lid and turn the steam release valve to the “sealing” position.

#5.  Then press the “Pressure Cook” button.  Next, press the “Pressure Level” button until you have selected “High Pressure”.

#6.  Turn the timer on for 6 minutes. Once pressure builds up, the timer will start counting down.

#7.  After the timer has completed turn the steam release valve to “Venting” for a quick release of steam.   Watch it close.  You may have to close it and open it just partially if some of the liquid sprays out.  **Warning – The steam is very hot, use a towel to turn the release valve so it does not burn you.
