This Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Bow Tie Pasta Recipe is a simple way to enjoy lasagna in your pressure cooker without using a springform pan. There is no layering required in this recipe like you would a typical Lasagna. It is a very simple dump and start pasta recipe. It only requires very minimal browning first. Everything cooks together and then stirred like you would eat any other pasta recipe similar to spaghetti. If you want to make this a true dump and start recipe you could substitute the raw ground meat with precooked ground meat to skip the first step.

I intended for this recipe to have a soupy texture to it but it actually turned out very similar to actual lasagna. I was very pleased with the results. The flavors were absorbed into the noodles due to the pressure cooking. We ate two bowls it was so good.
I left our shredded mozzarella separate and we put it on top of our individual plates. I plan on freezing a couple of individual portions and then adding the mozzarella on top when we reheat them. If you are planning to eat the whole pot in one sitting, you could actually sprinkle your shredded mozzarella on top of the whole pot.
One more thing I would like to tell you about. We added a packet of Frontera Ground Meat Taco Sauce to our recipe. You could cook this recipe without it but we like it so much I try to find new recipes that I can incorporate it into. It is totally optional.
We use the 8 qt. Instant Pot to prepare all our meals.
We also use a digital cooking thermometer like this. If you have any questions about what temperature something should be cooked at or reheated at you can check out FoodSafety.gov. That’s what we use.
Ingredients – Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Bow Tie Pasta Recipe
- 2 lb. Ground Beef
- 1 tbsp. Minced Garlic
- 1- 24 oz. Jar Spaghetti Sauce (We like Ragu Roasted Garlic)
- 1 ¼ – 24 oz. Jar of Water (use empty spaghetti sauce jar)
- 1 box (1 lb.) Bow Tie Pasta (Farfalle Pasta)
- 1 ½ cups Shredded Mozzarella
- 1 cup Cottage Cheese
- 1 packet Frontera Ground Meat Taco Sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp. Nature’s Seasoning
- 1 tbsp. Tony Chachere’s Seasoning
Instructions – Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Bow Tie Pasta Recipe
#1. First, put your Instant Pot on saute mode (high) and add your ground meat, Nature Seasoning, Tony Chachere’s, and minced garlic. Brown your meat until there is no pink left. If you have too much grease in your pot after browning strain it out.
Also, for those of you who want this to be a completely dump and start recipe you would skip the browning in step one and just add your pre-browned ground beef, seasoning, and garlic for this step.
#2. Then add Frontera Taco Seasoning, spaghetti sauce, and water. Stir all together well. Scrape the bottom of the pot to make sure nothing is stuck to it.
#3. Next, add your bow tie noodles on top and do not stir. Just pat them down under the liquid.
#4. Next, close the lid and turn the steam release valve to “sealing” position.
#5. Then press the “Pressure Cook” button. Next, press “Pressure Level” button until you have selected “High Pressure”. **Please note- If your Instant Pot is still on saute mode you will need to press “Cancel” then “Pressure Cook”.
#6. Turn the timer on for 4 minutes. Once pressure builds up, the timer will start counting down. (Meanwhile, you can place some garlic bread in the oven to start warming up.)
#7. After the timer has completed turn the steam release valve to “Venting” for a quick release of steam. **Warning – The steam is very hot, use a towel to turn the release valve so it does not burn you.
#8. Finally, after the steam has all released stir in your 1 cup of cottage cheese.
#9. Now you have two choices. You can either sprinkle your shredded mozzarella on top of the whole pot and serve. Or, you can serve it first and then sprinkle the mozzarella on top of your individual plates.
We sprinkle our shredded mozzarella on top of our individual plates and freeze individual portions of the pasta without it. This way when we reheat it later we can sprinkle fresh mozzarella cheese on top later.

Really good. Only problem was I had to do the 4 minutes on high pressure, twice. After four minutes the pasta was still crunchy. But after 8 minutes it was perfect.

Great! So glad you liked it!

Also love this recipe! I did also do the pressure cooking for around 6 minutes as the noodles were a bit al dente at 4 minutes, but otherwise this was great!

This was absolutely wonderful!!! My whole family of picky eaters spoke of its deliciousness for days!!! Can’t wait to make it again real soon!! Thank you!!

I made this last night. Was very simple, thank you. I looked up the ingredients for the seasonings you used and made my own, so I wouldn’t have 3 more seasoning bottles in my cabinet. Only problem was, I made the seasoning mixes all together in the same kind of bowl I keep my pepper in. I went to dump in the seasoning ad picked up the pepper bowl instead. Then I noticed what I did. My husband likes a little bit of food with his pepper, so I thought I’ll just dump in the seasoning mix, also. It was a lot of pepper! Even my husband mentioned how spicy it was!
I want to make it again, just not with all the pepper!

instead of the bow tie pasta I use broken lasagna noodles, and I use 1 -1/2 pound ground beef and 1/2 pound italian sausage and no cottage cheese but ricotta

I just made this. It tastes delicious but my only thing is. My pasta dishes come out still watery in instant pot. Any advice on this?

You could leave it on saute for a few minutes after cooking without the lid on to decrease some of your liquid. Or, you could make a corn starch slurry and mix in with it on Saute to thicken it up.
